Advocacy
Since I began student service in 1998, I have been a strong advocate of issues close to my heart, and of issues that directly implicate the studentry. The following issues are closest to my heart and I continue to support until today:
1. MAGNA CARTA FOR STUDENTS’ RIGHTS – since my high school days and my early days in college, I have been a strong supporter of this cause. Previously, Rep. Edcel Lagman of Albay has proposed for a Magna Carta for Students, which is now pending in Congress. I fervently support initiatives towards its passing.
2. QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL - this cause is the greatest cause I support. Over the years of my service to the students, I have tried my best to make sure that every student gets the quality education he deserves par none, regardless of his persuasions or prejudices.
3. NO TO ACADEMIC DISCRIMINATION – I abhor men and women in the academe who discriminate their students on the basis of their gender preferences, religion, political belief, or academic persuasion. I believe that every student must be treated equally and must be considered as a productive component of his community; the academe.
In UST
Since my early days as a student leader in the Faculty of Arts and Letters as an active member of DEKADA, as chief for publications and media affairs of the UST-CSC (2005-2006), and as HIRAYA editor-in-chief (2007-2008), I have been fighting against corruption in the student council, representation of students in all facets of decision making, and for the right to full disclosure of matters relevant to the students. And despite several setbacks I have faced in over 5 years, I am still here, serving my fellow Thomasians in my personal capacity.
